The game is incredibly accessible and requires little prior knowledge to enjoy. Since then, Monopoly has become a household name and has sold over 250 million copies worldwide. The US version was the first to be released to the public including many of the famous street names we’ve come to be familiar with. It wasn't until 1935 when a man named Charles Darrow made some changes to the original game that it became the Monopoly we know today. With this in mind, the dozens of family feuds that have occurred as a result of the game are perhaps justified. The history of Monopoly dates back to 1903 when a woman named Elizabeth Magie created "The Landlord's Game." Interestingly, its aim was to illustrate the negative aspects of monopolies and the injustices they cause, and was intended only to be an educational and thought-provoking tool. It's a game that has been played by millions worldwide and it’s been with us for almost a century. Monopoly is undoubtedly one of the most beloved board games of all time.
